Larry Brewer – Board Vice Chairman

Larry J. Brewer’s journey in the fire service began with the Conway Fire Department on October 14, 1971, where he initially served as a volunteer. His dedication and passion for firefighting led him to transition to a full paid position on February 1, 1974, culminating in an illustrious career spanning over 27 years before retiring on October 19, 2001.

Following his retirement, Larry embarked on a new chapter of service as the Fire Coordinator for Faulkner County, a role he assumed on October 22, 2001. Over the span of thirteen years, Larry oversaw the operations of 22 fire departments within the county, demonstrating exemplary leadership and commitment to fire safety.

In April of 1994, Larry expanded his involvement in firefighting by joining the Pine Village Volunteer Fire Department. His dedication and leadership skills were quickly recognized, and he assumed the role of Chief of the department from February 2004 until April 2014, leaving an indelible mark on the department’s operations and community outreach efforts.

Larry’s contributions to the fire service extend beyond local departments; in October 2007, he was appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to serve on the Arkansas Fire Protection Service Board, a position he continues to hold with pride to this day in 2021. Additionally, Larry serves as the Arkansas State Coordinator for Line of Duty Death (LODD) through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation in Emmitsburg, Maryland, showcasing his commitment to honoring fallen heroes and supporting their families.

In recognition of his dedication and service, Larry has attended the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Services as an Honor Guard and Family Usher in Emmitsburg, Maryland, from 2015 through 2019. Furthermore, for the past five years, Larry has organized bell services for career, retired, and volunteer firefighter funerals across the state of Arkansas, ensuring that their contributions are remembered and honored.

With an impressive 49 years of dedication to the fire service, Larry J. Brewer stands as a beacon of commitment, leadership, and unwavering support for firefighters and their communities. His legacy of service will continue to inspire generations of firefighters for years to come.
